The Great Escape

The older I get, the harder it is to live in a fantasy world.  It doesn’t mean I don’t try though.  In this particular incidence, I pull myself out of space and into a different kind of wonderland.

I was a little conflicted about posting pictures of this craft project.  I spent quite a bit of time on this diorama of Alice in Wonderland and I really like how it turned out.  (People don’t spend enough time making dioramas once they leave elementary school or when they’re not living the lives of the characters on Community.)   However, something is just lost in the magic of miniatures in pictures.  A picture just doesn’t show the same aesthetic as standing over the creation and marveling at the scale of it.

There is something lost in the ability to compare yourself with the scene that’s been created.

Nonetheless, I did my best to frame the photography in such a way that you’d think you were standing in the middle of this fantasy world, so I hope it at least highlights the fact that I think people should immerse themselves in a different reality once in a while… just to escape and relax from one’s own (sometimes) tedious life.
